Welcome To Mindful Tradition

About Mindful Tradition

Mindful Traditions moves beyond the modern perception of yoga, which is the idea that yoga is a physical practice that only occurs on the mat. Instead, Mindful Traditions introduces participants to a practice of building a conscious relationship with the ‘self’ through mindfulness, meditation, breathing exercises, and movement with full-length classes tailored to meet the needs of a neurodiverse individual or group.

Mindful Traditions uses the term "neurodiverse" to reference anyone who wishes to embark on this journey of self-discovery. Each person has a specific set of needs regardless of their perceived physical or neurological differences. Mindful Tradition seeks to explore and honor these needs by cultivating a practice that helps each participant be more holistically related to their sense of self and the world around them.

Mindful Tradition believes that developing this individualized practice can happen both through private consultation or through inclusive and integrated group classes that allow for the studio's collective needs to come into harmony.

Meet Founder, Kaylin McCarthy

Hi, my name is Kaylin.

I am the founder of ‘Mindful Tradition’ which is the anterior for an ever-evolving group of yoga, mindfulness, & practical lifestyle offerings.

I believe deeply that ANYONE can live a life not only beyond their wildest dreams, but a life that feeds their soul. We just have to be brave enough to listen. Brave enough to take a step, and then another, and then the next one after that…

I started this journey through the yogic path, working with the neurodiverse population 14 years ago. To me, YOGA isn’t something you do, it’s everything you do. Through the lens of all 8 limbs of yoga, we can reimagine our everyday lives and turn them into something meaningful, magical & mindful. AND we can do it our own way! Your life doesn’t have to measure up to anyone but you - your true self. It’s been speaking to you - are you ready to listen?

More about me…

I am a social therapist who spent nine years living and working with adults with special and neurodiverse needs. During those years, I supported individuals in navigating the complexities of daily life, offering emotional support, vocational guidance, stress-management skills, upkeep with family relations, meditation, breathwork, and adaptable yoga.

I am also a certified Kripalu yoga teacher through the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health. Kripalu believes that yoga should be an accessible practice that inspires connection, compassion, and joy; and that through yoga, one can meet their full potential. For me, joy is an essential part of my yoga practice which is why I choose this modality for my personal practice and my work.

I have also received an Udmey-certified Kids Yoga Teacher Training, which has allowed me to bring the practice of mindfulness, meditation, and movement to children, through both one-on-one sessions and larger group classes. Teaching children has included focusing on family classes, teaching concepts to numerous age groups, and modeling how one can bring mindfulness into home life. This work starts in my home with my own children who are certifiable yogis.

I am certified as a HANDLE Practitioner training for levels one and two, from the HANDLE Institute. The HANDLE Institute approach utilizes listening, observation, and reviewing without force or judgment to encourage the integration and care of neurological systems that are causing learning or life difficulties.

Most recently, I have received three accredited life coaching certificates, backed by the CPD group. These are Life Coaching, Holistic Health Coaching, and Wellness coaching. This plays a role in the structure and foundation for private classes where we will explore your whole being in relation to yoga as a practice for your life.

Mindful Tradition is committed to empowering individuals with diverse needs through movement, empathy, creativity, and education.
